To love – I'd have to care

I don't know why it happens

I've not been keeping score

But I do know there are times in life

When love becomes a chore

I never thought I'd say this

Never thought I'd find the words

Yet here they are unkindly hard

I've said 'em and you heard

You took off in a temper

Your friends mean more than me

Well, now you're welcome to 'em

Hope they bring you all you need

The bottom line is simple

We share the blame I'm sure

But in my eyes a fading light

I don't love you anymore

Oh, you'll still think I love you

I'll see the signs are there

But there'll be one thing missing

To love – I'd have to care
