Can you pull the Leviathan?
From the ocean with a fishhook;
Or catching it with a python,
Would you then be able to cook?

Can you put a ring through its nose?
Or with a hook to pierce its jaw;
Once you kill, what do you suppose?
Could you eat it with being raw?

For mercy with you will it plead?
To you tenderly will it speak?
Will it negotiate its need?
In having the freedom to seek.

Will it agree or compromise,
For becoming your lasting slave;
Compliment how noble and wise,
You are as well as being brave.

Can you play with it like a bird?
Keep it on a leash as a pet;
Will it obey every word?
Or cause danger to be a threat.

Will traders bargain over it?
Or amongst the merchants divide;
Who will they be rewarding you?
For the Leviathan that died.

Can you fill its hide with harpoons?
Or in its head with fishing spears;
Maybe shelter you from typhoons,
Or strengthen you from all the fears.

Reach out and lay your hand on it,
Think about all of the struggle;
Never has it a need to quit,
Seeing many kinds of trouble.

Defeating it is a false hope,
Because the sight will overwhelm;
Certainly when having to cope,
When the Lord is not at the helm.

None is so fierce that he can dare,
The Leviathan and to stand;
In the eyes of God as to stare,
In defiance of His command.
