The Memories I Keep

The Game

Our life was like a game,
and you wanted to cheat.
We were on the same team,
but me you tried to beat.

I never asked for much,
and you wanted everything.
It was like you joined the choir,
then chose not to sing.

I could never please you,
Lord knows how I tried.
I can't count the times,
I laid down and cried.

One day karma will come,
and then you will see.
It wasn't me who lost you,
but you who lost me.

And now when you gloat,
you fail to realize,
You may have won the game,
but you lost the prize.
