A good name is better,
Than expensive perfume;
To stick to the letter,
Chasing away the gloom.
For the day that you die,
Better than you were born;
And be able to fly,
To Heaven to sojourn.
It is better to go,
Unto a funeral;
For each of us would know,
What is admirable.
Everyone alive,
Always take this to heart;
When Jesus does arrive,
And sorrow will depart.
In spite of a sad face,
The heart can be joyful;
It is not a disgrace,
Sadness is not awful.
The minds of wise people,
Think about funerals;
For they know the Gospel,
More than the liberals.
Like the minds of the fools,
Will think about banquets;
Disregarding the rules,
Pig out without regrets.
Listen to wise people,
That tends to reprimand;
And go to the temple,
Hear what God does demand.
Be sure to sing your praise,
Than laughing like a fool;
Thanking the Lord always,
And abide in His rule.
Why were all things better,
Back in the days of old;
All stuck to the letter,
Now many act so bold.
