It is Father's day
I'm working in the yard
It has been raining for months
Up to my elbows in Mud
The phone rings
"Dad where are you?"
Planting my black Iris's
You are supposed to be here
It is Father's day
Everyone has cooked you a special dinner
Nothing on the table not home made
Didn't Mom tell you?
Mom was coming home tomorrow
The plan was we would celebrate
My sons birthday, Grandson graduation
and Father's day one day later
I had been misinformed
"Father's day is special. It has nothing
to do with Ryan's graduation or my birthday"
Wow, so they closed down the freeway for construction
Close down the freeway on Father's day
And the week of high school graduations
There is not a working brain in this city
Ok, mine included--it turned out well
After a while they forgave me my stupidity
Next year they well call the neighbor not
the wife and I!
