God is our refuge and strength,
Persevering at any length;
Assisting in times of trouble,
Rescuing us from the rubble.
That is why we are not afraid,
Because He always renders aid;
Even when the earth starts to shake,
Mountains topple during a quake.
Water roars from the surging waves,
He rescues from watery graves;
As the Lord calms the restless seas,
Typhoon winds to a gentle breeze.
There are rivers that bring pleasure,
Whose flowing streams full of treasure;
At the holy city of God,
Where angels give honor and laud.
The city where the Most High lives,
Where God keeps many incentives;
An inheritance when we go,
A mystery that He will know.
God is that city safe and sound,
Fortified no other is found;
He will help at the break of dawn,
Ensuring that evil is gone.
Nations being in turmoil,
People suffer as they toil;
A melting earth hearing His sound,
No longer any solid ground.
The Lord is with us, a stronghold,
Worth more than all silver and gold;
God of Jacob, Lord of Armies,
A power that your mind stymies.
Come and see the works of the Lord,
Honor Him showing He is adored;
Devastation to end all war,
Letting sin to exist no more.
Be still and know that He is God,
Destruction to those that were fraud;
Let go of all of your concerns,
While watching the old earth burns.
