EXCEPTION TO THE RULE

One thing confuses me.
I must learn before I die.
Is it I before E,
or is it E before I.

That thing about the C,
That exception to the rule,
Should help but confuses me,
From what I learned in school.

If I, then E, must follow C, but why,
You must explain to me,
Changes when said as “ay”
Neighbor, don't you see~?

I may have missed school that day,
And never understood the rule.
So now let's weigh, what to say,
See I am no fool~!

Now here's the truth,
I hope you are seeing,
herein are weird words uncouth.
In the end you may be agreeing.

Now don't forget or try to bet,
because I know the truth you see.
And from your bet, you will forfeit,
and give some money to me.

And if you guess I made a mess,
I'm not Nefarious you see.
With a little surveillance maybe less,
Mark their words wrong, like you and me.
