WHAT IS THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
Ask almost any kid you meet,
what does Christmas mean to you~?,
His answer, “many toys, and treats to eat”,
maybe getting what was asked for too.
The commercial part is oh so sad,
and advertising aimed at our kid,
turns their minds to desires so bad.
A notion that I wish that we could rid.
Why not teach them about that day at least,
a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ,
with wise men coming form the East,
bringing gifts to Him, and love so nice.
For the emphasis should be one of giving,
and not so much one of getting.
For His teachings while he was living,
was one of love, sunrise to setting.
It is great to get a little gift,
as God has given all to you and me,
but I for one just get a lift,
on faces of those, when MY gift they see.
Teach kids it's more than just the season,
of a visit from Santa Claus,
there is a larger greater reason,
to approach it as a cause.
A small gift to others in need,
a crust of bread for the squirrel,
and to the birds a cup of seed,
opens their lives to a whole new world.
And when they go to sleep at night,
remembering pleasures in life they bring,
and on their faces the happy sight,
receiving these gifts is a happy thing.
