My Grandmother was the One

Lord, my grandmother was the one
who introduced you to me many years ago
As a child visiting her home was glorious
because she let me know
that you are real, you love me, and go
with me, where ere I go
She was right, and I miss her, please let her know.

Lord, my grandmother was the one I
saw praying to you each night
She's the one that assured me trusting
you everything would be alright
All through the years I've never
forgotten the sweetness of her smile
She helped me know, living a life for
Jesus is worthwhile.

Lord, my grandmother has gone now to
be with you, please tell her I remain true
Tell her I look to you from whom all
blessings flow, please let her know
My grandmother was the one who taught me to pray
and follow the straight and narrow way
She told me troubles were along the road
but Jesus would help carry the load

Someday I hope to see your face in your
promised land
Tell my grandmother that someday I'll be
coming that way
Together forever we shall be
Lord, will you tell her for me?
