Sheltered
the darkness and its weight carried,
are only known by Him,
He has sat with me,
the bulwark with His armor,
safely holding me
emitting light to sling the darkness away,
there never came a guarantee
of life without storms,
His promise is to never be alone,
youth's souls emptiness was a void greater
than the Atlantic Trench,
time came, time rose and set,
a sense of Him was wane,
yet He was there-fighting for me,
He battled the inmost darkness
was the unknown strength to remain
on the waves surface
and not descend into a complete abyss,
moments on the journey to know Him,
to grow closer,
darkness still tried to beseige and assail,
the soul precariously waved
like Stevie did to the shore,
those who've passed
only saw a motion of hello,
it took the soul to almost collapse
to dust of bones,
to almost plummet
with water filled lungs,
to see Him standing there,
reaching toward me,
His reach a light intensely illuminating
a self-built wall,
that was a unobstructed opening
that had allowed darkness to dominate,
there on scarred knees with rope-burned hands,
raw in existence,
Love enveloped and sheltered my soul,
there the waves quelled at His word,
there my darkness was defeated
and will continue to be defeated.
