When a child has its first taste of grief
Then reality has become their thief,
It has stolen their happy ever after
And subdued their childhood laughter.
Their make believe world is shattered
And they feel all bruised and battered,
They realize then that nothing lasts
And a blight on their life this casts.
A Mother tries to shelter them from this
And tries to dismiss their fears with a kiss,
A cuddle and gentle words can reassure
As reality has been a little premature.
