“Giving him time”
He starts getting
nervous
as soon as
he sees her
he could tell
she was very
tired
this morning
which made his
time with her
even more
special
sharing a few
of her moments
with him
just so they
could talk,
she leaned
forward
and listened
after asking
him
how he was
getting by
with a real
thread
of true concern
going through
her question,
her eyes
lock on to
his
as he starts
to speak
he can already
feel his words
begin to stick
together
unable to
concentrate
on what he
wants to say
while staring into
the most beautiful
shades of color
he has ever
seen
he has to
look away
from the colors
that fill his
dreams
stare at the
ground
long enough
to get his
sentence started
once he has
it
rolling along
he steadies
himself
and raises his
gaze
back up to
her face
to find her
eyes
still there
waiting
for him
he is a little
surprised
she’s still
giving him
all her attention
making him wish
he had something
exciting
saved up
to say to
her,
his insecurities
are all screaming
at him
trying to take
charge
of his moment,
he slowly
becomes afraid
that she can
see in him
what he knows
he can never
say,
she repositions
her body
standing up
straight
causing her
clothes
to go taunt
against her
form
her eyes
run the length
of her look
checking the fit
of her jeans
and her tee
his eyes travel
right behind
in the same
path
as hers
unable to resist
the temptation
laid out
before him,
his last sentence
drops
as her eyes
return back
to him
no follow-up
words
coming in from
behind
to keep his
conversion
going
yet she still
gives him her
time
waiting for
him
to say
that their
moment
was over
a subtle
kindness
that does not
go unnoticed
by him,
she patiently
stays connected
to him
as he spirals
into a long
pause
having to end
a conversation
he doesn’t want
to walk away
from
but he has
already taken
way more
than his share
of her sparkle,
he feels like
she’s leaving
forever
as she accepts
his
“see ya”
and offers him
a “bye”
in return
released from
the moment
she gave him,
he watches her
as she walks
down the hall
and through
the open door
into the next
room
in what now
seems
a world away
from him…
