Some Poems Are Like Lichen
POETRY MAY BE COMPARED TO LICHEN
You may not notice dried up lichen,
Not even observed when we are hiking.
It lies so dormant, dull, nor very striking.
mixed with algae glob, often not to our liking.
But gloomy skies began to show,
and a terrible storm may start to blow.
Those meaningless forms began to grow,
sights to behold, before now we did not know.
They bring us thoughts of good or bad,
and give new thoughts we never had.
Sometime happy, but sometime sad.
But the morphosis usually is glad..
So it is with many works of the poet.
If it has a meaning only he may know it.
No matter how many ways he tries to show it.
So often we have tried, but sometime just blow it.
Personal, stormy skies again may blow,
and your inner storm will began to glow.
That meaningless poem will start to show.
outlooks that til now you just did not know.
