Accept teachings not to silver,
And knowledge rather than pure gold;
It will help you to maneuver,
Everything that you were told.
Wisdom is much better than jewels,
That no desires can compare;
In the mind from one of your tools,
That you will be able to share.
It shares a home with your shrewdness,
Having knowledge and discretion;
Prudence that gives you blessedness,
Guiding in the right direction.
To fear God is to hate evil,
And hating the arrogant pride;
Evil conducted by the devil,
The perverse speech lurking inside.
Wisdom possesses good advice,
Competence for understanding;
As your strength that will entice,
The zeal that life is demanding.
It is by wisdom that kings reign,
And rulers enact a just law;
Through wisdom that will ease the pain,
From the judgment cast from a flaw.
By wisdom all judges of the earth,
Princes lead as well as nobles;
For showing others their true worth,
And how a righteous man humbles.
Wisdom loves those who are loving,
As well as those who search to find;
Assisting in your behaving,
As it helps for calming your mind.
Wisdom gives everlasting wealth,
Riches, honor and righteousness;
Enriching your spiritual health,
For avoiding the vulgarness.
Its fruit is better than fine gold,
Worth more than silver that is pure;
Leads you as your life will unfold,
Steering you away from the lure.
It keeps you on the justice path,
Giving wealth what you inherit;
Its love will spare you from the wrath,
For the love you put in merit.
