Who is he? He is the unknown poet, my
triple great uncle Joe, he lived a long
and lonely life, he loved one woman he
lost in the time war.
A Martin Trapper he was, an artist of fine
design, a poet of his time, a fine gentle
soul of the universe, captured each
thought, wrote them down in journals
and poetry.
If you should ask him what he believed
in! he would say; 'I believed in sounds
of nature, love of man, love of poetry
written from heart, anything to do with
love, is where my heart roams best.'
He was true to his own beliefs, a man
of spirit and truth, a man who done
more then enough for his fellowman,
he was the heartbeat of the land, a
true mountain man the wilderness.
He wore leather, long hair, beard,
with a heart that touched all animals
including the bear, he grew with them
closer as he traveled the mountains
free, amazed with life..
He was truly a remarkable man, who
fought with George Armstrong Custer
and the men of the 7th Cavalry where
they met their fate and the Sioux on June
25, 1886, at the Battle of the Little Big
Horn'. Uncle Joe, was sent to get
reinforcements at the age of fifteen
to help, when they returned all were
mascaraed..
Many of his journals and Poetry and
sketches were burned in a trailer
fire, but to this day, still remember
at a young age reading a little of his
poetry, when mother took them away
from me, telling me I don't understand
I don't remember how he wrote, since
I was very young, but remember very
well his sketches he sketched with
pencil under candle light while in his
cabin in the middle of winter..
His sketches were of a lovely woman
dressed in a long gown, with hair
piled up on her head, a true beauty.
