The Infidelity Game

Oh the King had his mistresses
His courtiers did the same
As they merrily cruised through
Their aristocratic infidelity game.
But if there came a time when
Their little circle wasn't enough
They'd  stray outside and import
A little bit of the local rough.

One of those customs for which
Families had reason to thank it
For having been originated on
The wrong side of the blanket.
Many received title and riches
Led life of ease and leisure
Just for having sated their
Sovereign's urge for illicit pleasure.

For the poor it was fornication
An act of mortal sin and shame
For the sovereign and his court
Just another pleasurable game.
It's survived through the ages
To this modern aristocratic way
Of don't do as I do
just do as I say.

So the King's still in his castle
His Consort  just the same
As high society merrily bobs along
With it's Immoral Infidelity game.
A social system that's been
So very cleverly crafted
To ensure  the rich get richer
And the poor still get shafted.
