Aura
You have the nerve to say that I
should show you more respect
and that I should appreciate
the aura you project.
Why can't you see the quackery
of requiring that of me,
when you find it perturbing
to return the courtesy?
But true respect is mutual
and not at all one-sided.
Yet, when your rudeness brings reproach
you claim that you've been slighted.
Which is the height of arrogance
or vanity gone to seed
when you resolve to make demands
and insist that I concede.
Nonetheless, I will pay homage
and show you due respect,
though you deserve no more than I
for the aura you project.
