There Once was a Girl
There once was a girl who was all alone
ever since she chose to leave home
She stumbled in her search to be free
and fell into drugs and misery
Sometimes I'd cry when I prayed
How I wish that she would have stayed
But stubbornness and sinful pride
left my prayers for her denied
She always thought that I did not care
and cursed me saying "you're not fair!"
Her drugs helped numb her pain
crystal meth and cocaine.
I lost count at how many times
her habits led to foolish crimes
She was In and out of a prison cell
for us both, it was a living hell
Sometimes I just wanted to scream
‘cause she gave up on all her dreams
Opting for a nightmare of lies
just so she could chase that high
The drugs completely consumed her
and we both felt like a loser
She felt like she had no self-worth
and hated the day of her birth
The life was draining from her eyes
a fake smile her best disguise
Another relapse and rehab again
opioids her new best friend
When it all ended it gave me chills
Why did she take so many pills?
Now I'm alone in this great big world
To always remember there once was a girl
