Going Home

Going Home                    July 7, 2019

Im going home to Ireland in the sky
Ill be with the martyrs why did they have to die
They were taken from Ireland, we still ask why
Young and old, the stories told with lies
They died with honour, we never heard their cries
What was done to stop the killing of our people
Killers moving freely protected church and steeple
Ireland a sovereign nation failed by other free nations
America sighed as Ireland cried, we faced assasination
Kennedy was ours, a boy from home
Ignored our cries, we were all alone
Invading a country like Hitler did destroying life and people
Many have gone, Ill be with them in peace
Im going home to Ireland in the sky
Ill be with the martyrs, why did they have to die
