The Backyard Of My Life

Saturday Night Chaos Sunday Morning Blues

Lost inside nothing but the moment
We were riding high we never wanted to come back down
I was hanging around waiting for you
To crawl out of your window to set fire to the night
She came strolling down a ladder made of paperback books
Cigarette in her mouth carrying a bag of crystals
Calling out to a taxi burning up the road
There was a strange kind of electricity in the air
Look behind those eyes but you see a stranger there

If you live on the edge your bound to fall
With your world upside down nobody can hear you call
Walking home barefoot holding her shoes
After Saturday night chaos shes got the Sunday morning blues

Not quiet sure if its something she said or did
Looking back its all a bit of a blur and broken memories
Trying to piece together fragments of the puzzle
There was a change in the weather
Things quickly spiraled out of control
She spoke some words her twisted tongue would regret
Shes come undone she will never turn back time
She can point the finger but shes only her self to blame
She can wear a different mask but the story will stay the same

If you live by the sword you die by the sword
You can pray to yourself or pray to the lord
Burying her problems in a bottle of booze
After Saturday night chaos shes left with Sunday morning blues

We all get wreck less sometimes
Shes not the only one
To wake up Sunday morning
Wondering where it all went wrong

Falling over her own two feet
Shes too far out to return to or reach
When its time for the carousel casino to close
Every penny she made is straight up her nose
Staggering down the cold dark ally nothing to her name
Its no use trying to tell her who shes hurt tonight
Tomorrow it will hit her hard and fast
As tears of pity lay down at her door
Shes made her favorite mistake a million times and more

If you live on the edge your bound to fall
With your world upside down nobody can hear you call
Walking home barefoot holding her shoes
After Saturday night chaos shes got the Sunday morning blues
