I urge the elders among you,
Witness the suffering of Christ;
For the glory that we pursue,
Nothing else ever be enticed.
So, be a shepherd to the flock,
Exercising your oversight;
Not under compulsion to walk,
But willingly to God’s delight.
Eagerly, not for shameful gain,
Not bossy to those under you;
Rather an example to reign,
As a mentor that they value.
So, when the chief Shepherd appears,
You receive the crown of glory;
Unfading as one perseveres,
Christ gives His congratulatory.
Likewise, to you who are younger,
Please be subject to your seniors;
Do not become a scaremonger,
Any other mis-behaviors.
Clothe yourself with humility,
God opposes someone with pride;
Grace to the meek ability,
That you remain humbled inside.
Humbled under the hand of God,
He exalts at the proper time;
If worshipped to honor and laud,
Unto Heaven He helps you climb.
Cast all of your anxieties,
Because He loves you as He cares;
Forgiving improprieties,
When in confession in your prayers.
Be sober-minded and alert,
Because of your foe the devil;
His assault will be an effort,
To inspire you with evil.
He prowls like a lion roaring,
Seeking someone to devour;
So be like an eagle soaring,
Because Christ gave you the power.
