Poetic Verses
The Moment I Arrived
It seemed that I had never left
The moment I arrived
At a nursing home where memories
In sadness, were revived.
I worked there many years ago
So I knew what lay in store
Having been a young man serving those
Not hurried anymore.
Old ladies clutching baby dolls
Feeble men in overalls
Malingering in their wheelchairs
Up and down the crowded halls.
To them, I was a stranger
There was no familiar face
Because the ones I knew were gone
And others took their place.
Still, it seemed that I had never left
The moment I arrived
At a nursing home where memories
In sadness, were revived.
The moment I arrived

In sadness, were revived.

So I knew what lay in store
