a sliver shy of three-quarters of a century
could hardly contain
her adventures, memories, and inspirations,
just a touch of time
borrowed from heaven
to share her wisdom and love,
the myriad she met
were endowed with warmth
over coffee conversations
and Saturday morning breakfasts,
an ear and hand freely given
without thought of receipt,
her name from birth
gave lean to the impact forward
in the lives she encountered,
proudly the greatest name she wore
was the badge of grammy to six,
now with time elapsed and gone
she walks where she always knew she
would one day within
the light and warmth of the Son,
and we know her legacy is
that knowing her is knowing what love is.
