Errors

Just throw me in the Humber
My best mate had said
I never realised he meant
Wait until he was dead.
The tide took him away
It certainly didn't linger
And he disappeared from sight
After giving me the finger.

Now I'm serving life in solitary,
The other prisoners pet hate,p
They won't accept it was an error
When  I murdered my best mate.
I've always been a literal thinker
Not good at seeing any joke
I really thought I was helping him
When I went and drowned the bloke.

They say I'm due for parole
In another twenty or so years
And none of them accept as real
My many remorseful tears.
Just throw me in the Humber
My best mate had said
He really should have explained
To wait until he was head.
