The Dolt

By all accounts, he was a man
Who lived by his own rules
And clung to them tenaciously
As compliance was for fools.

He was known as crass and vulgar
Psychotic some would say
Whose manic moods and hissy fits
Drove would-be friends away.

He burned his candle at both ends
By living recklessly
And though he hid behind a mask
The truth was plain to see.

That he was self-destructing
Right before his family's eyes
But even so, no one could stop
His slow and sad demise.

But one day unexpectedly
His life came to an end
A victim of an accident
From which he could not mend.

Yes, he by all accounts was one
Who believed that some were fools
But wasn't he the dolt who made
And lived by his own rules?
