The Shantak-birds

Larger than an elephant,
The head of a horse;
Slippery scales
Instead of feathers so soft!

Richly flavored eggs,
With an exotic taste
Are valued by men,
Whom dive with the Ego.

Great Father
Of all Shantak-bird;
Housed beneath the dome
Of the palace of the Veiled King
At the city of Inquanok;
In the Dreamlands!

Do not look upon these
Fearful Shantak-birds;
Father fed in the dark
For none to meet...
