It was not without an oath,
Who formerly become priests;
Giving him spiritual growth,
That can calm the wild beasts.
This one was made as a priest,
Having an oath by the One;
Able to prepare the feast,
For being God as the Son.
You are a priest forever,
Of a better testament;
A covenant that never,
Divert from the sacrament.
The former priests were many,
That continued till their death;
No resigning of any,
Until their losing of breath.
But His priesthood continues,
For it is made permanent;
Wisdom wisely He construes,
As His reign is dominant.
He is enabled to save,
The uttermost who draw near;
From the death bed in the grave,
Who will honor and revere.
Indeed fitting that should we,
Such a holy and high priest;
Made higher than we can see,
Farther than from west to east.
He has not a daily need,
As those who have sacrificed;
For Christ will always succeed,
Since He will not be enticed.
For the law will appoint men,
As high priests with weaknesses;
In the end God will condemn,
The sin someone professes.
The Word of oath became Law,
Appoints a Son made perfect;
For purging every flaw,
From those who do not reject.
