Poetic-Verses

'' With All Our Comrades Who Fell ''

Where do I start?
The beginning is fine,
Straight from the heart?
That would be divine,
With what I impart,
May well give you a sign,
That all within me is well.

When called to fight,
I had no hesitation,
Freedom I'd recite,
We fought aggravation,
I knew it was right,
I defended my nation,
Our enemies, I helped to repel.

On looking back,
We gave our all,
At times on the rack,
We did stand tall,
When on the attack,
We refused to stall,
In reality it resembled Hell.

I don't feel fear,
My cover I've blown,
Those I made disappear,
The seeds were sown,
It's now became clear,
That what it has shown,
Bad memories I tend to expel.

I have no regrets,
About what I achieved,
I don't get the sweats,
Nor have I grieved,
I could take any bets,
Some will be relieved,
As my desire they couldn't quell.

To this very day,
Though some are aghast,
It does cause dismay,
They question my past,
I can honestly say,
I don't let it last,
They do leave a nasty smell.

Though still a child,
I was sent to war,
The enemy I reviled,
Don't dare ask, what for,
With God reconciled,
I now have a rapport,
On the past we do need to dwell.

I can honestly say,
Let no-one deride,
On this special day,
Let's heal the divide,
As one let us pray,
Wear your poppy with pride,

‘' For All Our Comrades Who Fell ‘'
