The Memories I Keep

Thanksgiving Gathering

Thanksgiving comes once a year
And when it does I have no fear
For family will gather for a meal
And in doing so they keep it real

Brother argues with our cousin
Uncle is drinking and already buzzin'
Sister's eyes frozen to her phone
Kids playing x-box in spare room alone
Playing poker and getting drunk
Telling neighbors the strange smell's a skunk
Turkey burnt to tasty perfection
The dog humps my leg loves affection
Grandpa is yelling at the TV
Hoping Lions have victory
My aunt is worried she's getting fat
Grandma farted and blamed the cat

Thanksgiving comes once a year
I love my family gathered near
I do not need anything more
For family is what I'm thankful for
