When a grievance with another,
Go to law before the unjust;
Instead of to your brother,
For a judgement that you can trust.
For the world is judged by the saints,
You are unworthy to be a judge;
Regards to trivial complaints,
You will just be holding a grudge.
To judge angels do you not know,
How much more matters in this life;
Judgment is for us as we go,
Doing wrong that is causing strife.
So if you have such of a case,
Why should you lay them on the church;
When forgiveness will bring on grace,
Through the Scriptures within your search.
I speak according to your shame,
That on one among you as wise;
To settle disputes to proclaim,
Enabled to open your eyes.
Brother goes to law with brother,
And that before unbelievers;
Christians fighting one another,
Before a judge that delivers.
Why not rather suffer a wrong,
Why not rather not to defraud;
That both of you can remain strong,
Ask forgiveness pleading to God.
