Vanity of vanities,
That the preacher would have said;
Teaching of iniquities,
Causing them to become dead.
The knowledge making them wise,
The weighing and studying;
Proverbs will open their eyes,
Causes sin to be fleeing.
He seeks for words of delight,
Acceptable words of truth;
Which is written as upright,
For inspiring the youth.
The words of wise are like goads,
Firmly-fixed like a saying;
Like the straight and narrow roads,
With honor of God paying.
They are given one Shepherd,
Beware of things beyond these;
Caution of something else heard,
That could be some false decrees.
For there are so many books,
The weariness of no end;
Misconception overlooks,
Of something that might offend.
The end of the matter heard,
Fear God and keep His precepts;
For the duty of the Word,
That every man accepts.
God will bring every deed,
With every secret thing;
Into judgement that will need,
If good or evil that would bring
