Avenue of Prayer
He diligently prayed for strength and will
To dare and do what's right
Then asked God to direct his steps
And lead him toward the light.
He also asked for cleansing
That he might start anew
And become a man saved and redeemed
Before his life was through.
He begged for power to hold his tongue
And turn the other cheek
In testy situations
When his self-control was weak.
Yes, the prayerful man was diligent
And his sins he did forswear
That he would be returned to grace
Through the avenue of prayer.
