An Angel Unawares
When considering the treatment of others
there are things we shouldn't do,
for in truth, we may not realize
just who we're talking to.
Don't scoff at those less fortunate
who struggle to get by,
or talk behind another's back
to slur and vilify.
Don't kick a man when he is down
but help him to his feet,
and never turn away a child
who has no food to eat.
Don't disregard a stranger
who just might need a smile,
but if he should ask more of you,
then go the extra mile.
Therefore, it's prudent to be kind
and gracious in all affairs,
for who knows, we may entertain
an angel unawares?
