Preacher's Message
The preacher spoke with passion
And we hung on every word
Even though his message wasn't new
It was like the first time heard.
That we pray for friend and foe alike
And turn the other cheek
Not being one to hold a grudge
Or be too proud to speak.
Ever ready with forgiveness
Toward those who do us wrong
And always be considerate
Not willful or headstrong.
Then live each day with thankfulness
For God's redeeming grace
His plan for man's salvation
A calling to embrace.
No, his message offered nothing
That we hadn't heard before
But rather, a reminder of
What we were put here for.
