By this we know that we abide,
In God as well as He in us;
And giving His Spirit to guide,
Where we have been dwelling as thus.
For we have seen to testify,
That the Father has sent His Son;
As the Savior to purify,
Being as the anointed One.
Whoever confesses that He,
Jesus Christ is the Son of God;
Is honoring of His decree,
Worshipping to honor and laud.
So we have come and to believe,
The love that God for us to give;
For the salvation we receive,
Through confession He will forgive.
For our love is made perfect,
So that we may have confidence;
For that day He will not reject,
In which is from His providence.
There is not any fear in love,
Because perfect love casts out fear,
It has discipline from above,
When your perfection is sincere.
We love Him since He first loved us,
Honoring Him a desire;
But hating your brother as thus,
Would be making Him a liar.
He who does not love his brother,
Loves not God whom He has not seen;
And not caring for each other,
No compassion that ever been.
This commandment we have in Him,
If you love God loves his brother;
Joy in life avoids being grim,
Having love for one another.
