The Backyard Of My Life

The Girl With Raven Black Hair

I once knew a girl with raven black hair
If i could turn back time i would tell her how much i care
She was very attractive creative and free
The books that she read influenced me
To put down in words whats written in my heart
Tho shes far away we have never been apart

When we where younger living the dream
On a carousel of emotions there was no in between
Wild and wreck less she set fire to the night
Somewhere over the horizon heading for the light
Being young and foolish i let her slip away
Fate might twist maybe make us meet up one day

After chasing some shadows of fortune and fame
I heard she married a man and changed her last name
They moved to a castle up on the hill
In certain circles i hear she thinks of me still
Maybe tomorrow as the tides of time turn
Shes will come back to me for her my heart yearns

Looking at old love letters she had sent to me
With kisses at the bottom oh C'est la vie
Bringing back memories of the fun that we had
I made a promise to you girl i would never be bad
As the rain falls heavy i hope your safe and warm
Me i put on a brave face and try to battle the storm

A special connection she knew how to blow my mind
Shes full of beauty and wonder shes one of a kind
I think to myself what is she doing where is she now
What i wouldn't give to talk to her some how
So i raise a glass to the girl with raven black hair
You gave me a pair wings you got me walking on air
