Hear the Lord our God,
The Lord One and only;
Because we have been flawed,
And have not been holy.
Love the Lord all your heart,
All your soul and your might;
Remember to impart,
Following in His light.
These words that I command,
You shall be on your heart;
With the Lord you must stand,
Through each day as you start.
Teach them diligently,
To your children to hear;
As stern talk by gently,
To learn how to revere.
Teach them when in your house,
When you walk by the way;
When present with your spouse,
How to trust and obey.
Whenever you lie down,
And the time that you rise;
Joyful without a frown,
As you open your eyes.
You shall bind as a sign,
Frontlets between your eyes;
That He is the Divine,
And who will make you wise.
Write them on the doorposts,
Of your house and your gate;
God of heavenly hosts,
Mindful that He is great.
