My Poetry

Husband Forgets Birthdays

Why does it never seem to fail?
On my birthday, he seems to bail
He rather go out with the boys
From him, there seems to never be any noise

Although, I get mad at him
And I want to rip off a limb
I go out to celebrate it without him
I'll just go to the beach for a swim

He may not be into a parade for the Fourth of July
And hopefully, there won't be any rain that falls from the sky
When I get home, he gets the silent treatment for the rest of the night
I rather be silent than to start something that I'll regret and start a fight

When the day's nearly over, it's then that he recognizes what day it was
And then he figures out why in the world, I'm upset and mad at him
Even though he cares and loves me, he likes to irradiates me to no end

Note: I wrote this for a contest. I'm not married so this was a challenge to write. It was supposed to be funny, but I don't think it turned out the way that I had hoped. I did my best and I did try, and that's all I can do. This was the first one. I ended up changing it later. After the contest is over, I'll post the other one.
