Selected Poems

Witness

This morning snuck dull between low buildings
sun reflects on half a flock of wander blackbirds
suddenly scattered, rushed by hurry bypass cars.

Someone has somewhere most impotent to go.

Birds leap and fly from fear, just above my head
fanning out like fighter jets in a military fly over
across a sycamore leaf littered shining wet street.

Wind adds tiny roars to a flap of beaten feathers.

A shadow of wings stretches across a weary world
angels keep watch, where only eagles dare to tread.
