Three Little Words
Three Little Words
Feels like I'm barely
holding onto reality.
Hardly hanging on
to my grasp on sanity.
Almost like it
never happened.
But it did.
And no one
can take that away.
We spoke the words
we were dying to convey.
Three little words ~
she almost dared not say.
She held my hand
as though forever.
Then someone smashed
our crystal dream.
Like an ornate
chandalier
blown to bits
with a hot bullet.
Our love was strong
but couldn't conquer all.
I feel I need
to wait for the day
when I can hold her
in my arms again.
"I love yous" now seem
so far away.
Only one date
& our time
was taken away.
I'll love her 'til
my dying day.
