The Man On The Red Bicycle (an ode) RE-EDITED 12/4/2021
who would I be without you
what would I see
without you
simple words but they'll do
my hurt takes a dive and a
cartwheel or two
when you're in the room
or in my bed
I know
it might have been me
that was dead
but you rattled my corpse
and took the world and swooshed it alive
and I dreamed a different dream
because you made it all shine
in all the small special ways that have come true
what would I do
without
you
I didn't know then
what I know now about you
the man on the red bicycle
was the man who grants wishes
like the man on the moon
you ever spent the night all alone
craning up at the sky
wondering and wondering
why is it that I
am alone in the dark...
you hit my mark
and made a pin-prick or two
and expanded my head
and blew up my heart
and blasted through my walls
its true
oh what would I do
how could I do it
without you?
