Faeries - Arrival

The trees were barely sentient
When the great ships arrived
Besieged in their great forests
Where they had once thrived
Their massed ranks
Proving their worth
Providing as they did
The lungs of the Earth.
But, now daily attacked and felled
Huge clouds of smoke to be seen
Before the razed Earth was ploughed
For planting the crops of soya bean,
Adding to the Climate change effects
Of the growing greenhouse gasses
And the rising ocean levels
From the melting ice masses.
Hanging in geostationary orbits
Ringing the planet at such a height
Their presence was detectable
But the ships were out of sight
The message beamed out
We left Mother Earth in your care
You have raped and pillaged it
Unto a state of deep despair .
We are here on a rescue mission
To heal, succour  and restore
To bring the Mother Planet
Back to health once more.
We will work with or against you
But  take note, for what it's worth,
We are dedicated in our mission
The Faeries are returned to Earth
