EMPTY HANDED

 ~EMPTY HANDED~

Alexander the Great is well-known
for the conquering of the world by
force of the army and willpower.
What his will read, not many know.

He asked to cover both sides of the road
with the riches, he had conquered in wars
and carry his body with open hands
for people to see him, down that road.

He wanted people to see that he was
not taking anything he conquered;
Everything was left behind on Earth,
one can carry nothing after death.

What's the point in planning, plotting,
working so hard and accumulating;
just, to leave behind and go away,
empty-handed, once life is gone?
