THIS IS MY CORNER OF THE UNIVERSE, ENTER WITHIN

wakened
I was by my heart and head
burning
realizing a fact that heated me
more than most

i have lived
as I was not
i have chosen
as i would not have chose

where to put the blame
do you wonder
where to put
if there is fair and square

should I wear this gaudy trinket
as a fancy
wear it boldly
tie it into me
like a bold but gaudy ribbon
overwhelming
my raven hair

pretend to be
but not to be it
pretend to feel
but not to know
the true feeling
that would relish living
underneath it
acting as if i'm
the way of my world
the transforming lies
of me they told

i let them make of me
a blunder
i let them shape me
pour me into a useless mold
i no longer let them make this blunder
I will no longer do and act
as they believe
as they've blended me to their expectations
to their beliefs
yes I've grown wicked
I am bold

underneath my shiny
new skin
underneath
I'll now slither out
become the snake they
shunned and reviled now
become the power
and their bitter own self-doubt

that thing they tried to seed within me
that thing they pointed at me
to fore-swear
the accusation
the force to live it
the cross my burden
the derision and the judgment
meted out unjustly
in their mean and constant stares

I reject it
I reject them
I adventure out
from my eternal  want and winter
I breathe the Spring
I emerge triumphant
and defiant
I defy even
the bracing gift of
my greatest comfort
the fresh
and oh the enticement
of my new and constant
embracing lover of a new
emboldening sweetness
call it my Spring
in my late Autumn
I'll call it that
the Crone has  risen
from her forced slumber
shed her dead skin
risen from the underground
and climbed up
her air.
