The Backyard Of My Life

The Neon Rain

I was walking along in the snow
Watching diamonds sparkle in the road
I can see my breath hung up like smoke
Freeze frame in the air

On this cold white winter
Its another blue moon
The summer sun was over way to soon
Stuck on the dark side of the light
If wishes where horses
Beggars would ride tonight

Christmas eve in some dirty cheap hotel
Looking out the window at the neon rain
Hoping there's some cigarettes in hell
Sometimes my soul feels like its on fire

On this cold white winter
While the wild wind blows
A beautiful brown eyed girl told me
Tomorrow never knows if you will be
Waiting on the wrong side of goodbye
If dreams where birds of paradise
Then everyone without wings would fly

There's an old drunk dressed up as Santa clause
Sleeping in a doorway in this damaged society
People passing by carrying presents
Wont give him any money for food

Hiding behind a mask
They turn there eyes away
Instead of facing the ugly truth
They run the other way

On this cold white winter
Its another silent night
When will war be over when will we give up the fight
I was lost but now I've found
If hopes where golden flowers
There would be plenty to go around

I was walking along in the snow
Time was dragging it was moving so slow
Following footprints down this long and winding road
Wondering how i got this far
Thinking to myself where did things go so wrong?
