They Say The Preying Mantis Is No Lady

***************************

they say
the preying mantis is
no lady

i say
the preying mantis is
quite the girl

I've changed her name to
preying
because that's the bit
which many object to, too often
her preying is the fact
the swallowed bitter pill

she is an expedient mistress
she knows just exactly who
and what she wants
she gets down to her necessary business
then dispatches with her man
without a thought

then what?

well that's the truth of it
the bare bones of it
that the fleshing out of it
thre's this male body wriggling  there
on the floor of her flat
and she's off and done
ang out the door
(in under 60 seconds )

perhaps the lad
didn't read her title
pehaps he
didn't have spell check
or was so ready for the action
the end result and its rumor
were too far flung
from the pheromones of her "love."
and her pre-destined from of attack

tisk-tisk
how litlle but more often should we regale her
even if you admire he far less
she's much too much a cold unthinking lover
practical to the punch
her dual-lack of commitment and tenderness

and yet I've seen men watch her with
eager fascination right down to
the eating of their head
the outcome forever unknown/known to them
yet they approach the formidable broad
expecting something far less

silly silly boys
tricks
AND
blind date aren't always fun
read the warning label
you'll have another day
under the sun.....
