The Backyard Of My Life

Blue Sunday

Woke up this morning with rain
Running around my head
Black crows and white horses
At the bottom of my bed
Another crazy night in this three ring circus town
Where the dead bury the dead when the sun goes down
Where the streets of rage are bursting at the seams
Where they have sacrificed the joker and destroyed all our dreams

Walking with the zombies and the robots
Seeing how the other half live
Why dose fear manipulate so many
Why wont people forget and forgive
The times and things that came before us
The young don't want to hear about yesterdays glories
In an ever changing world moving like the ocean
Breaking anything set in stone
Don't be petrified of silence
You are never on your own

Cleopatra celebrates another successful
Conquest of all of her convictions
Following the footprints in the silver snow
Looking for direction and some place to go
There's a candle man who crumbles and brightly burns
There's a Plasticine carousal that twists and turns
Next to a house of cards that comes crashing down
Hoping to hold back the night in this troubled town

While Shakespeare's sister said to his Secretary
Take down this dictation in the form of a note
Send them out to sea somewhere
To sail on a paper boat
That drifted in to reality from out of nowhere
The karmic wheel keeps on spinning
If your chasing tomorrow you will never get there
Nobody knows what the future will bring

Woke up this morning with clouds of confusion
Running round my head
Seven serpents and twenty two angels
At the bottom of my bed
With the writing on the wall trying to find my way
Under a dark red sky on this blue Sunday
Watching the world out the window covered in sunbeams
Where they have sacrificed love for money and destroyed all our dreams
