Is it really good to be 'good'?
History shows 'good' getting
Raw deals like President JFK
Jesus, Gandhi, Dag Hammarskjöld
and Martin Luther King were killed.
The list is endless and that is
Not counting so many unknown
Good people suffering injustice
By the bad people of the world.
My mother told me a story of
A holy man and a scorpion;
Where holy man refused to
Give up being good and kept
Saving the drowning scorpion,
Despite being stung many times.
He said, "If that creature sticks
To its nature of stinging, then
I should stick to my nature of
Being good and doing good."
I wish I could follow that
holy man and remain good.
Sometimes bad is pure evil
It hurts good without mercy,
Making it extremely hard for
a good person to remain good.
