The Backyard Of My Life

Something For Nothing

I got something for nothing
As the night turned too day
When your surrounded by darkness
Let light guide the way
I'm a man of my word i say what i mean
Ill give you heaven or hell there's no in between

I got something for nothing
When you came along
You put me in my place
Told me where i was going wrong
Shes a shoeshine girl who's back on her feet
Shes so direct but sometimes so discreet

So the story goes when your trying to catch the butterfly
Get me out of this place and off the sinning wheel
Take me to the suffragette city up in the sky
Without saying a word you seem to know how i feel

I'll give you something for nothing
If i like your style
When your mind is free and your heart is wild
Maybe there's a revolution in her head
Shes got me thinking about something she said
I hope you get to talk to me on Tuesday

In the end when your trying to hold a burning blue flame
When you wish to see the invisible sun
Shes got me on a star sail it echoes when she calls my name
These are high times i don't know how they started or where they begun

I got something for nothing
Why didn't i get what i give?
When we except death we can start to live
I'll see you in the next one i need nothing in return
Every human tragedy is opportunity to learn
How to fill this hole inside
How to fill this hole inside
How to fill this hole inside
