Chickens

Some people take some joy in feeding them
Others would see a potential problem
But whatever one of feels or the impression
What sight they are in the mornings vision

Look at the rooster, light brown, brown with black tail feathers
Stepping around so proudly with the greatest pleasures
Flapping those wings crowing long and loudly
Looking like Chaunteclair in the Chaucer's tale exactly

From the side view he quickly spies an intruder
Quickly that sound of joy turn to anger
Knowing he has to efficiently deal with this threat
Because in his harem, strength is to maintain respect

The hens too steps along with their brood
Scratching, pecking as they forage for food
The chickens so happy make a merry chirping sound
Listen for the cluck when food is found

She too can have plumage so colourful
Some speckled, white and mixed do multiple
Then some of the chickens too over time on observation
One can notice the gender distribution

But as one sit and watch them as they grow
A realization hit hit home even more so
Because a time will come when they too reproduce
There is that envision of numbers later on the loose.
